Just so everyone on the forums here knows, yes artist alley has opened. Yes you do need a sellers permit to be in the artists aley BUT YOU DO NOT have to have one when you register. You can get it after you register for your space, so long as we get a copy of it emailed to artistalley@animeconji.org . The AX tutorial is pretty easy to use, and I see someone else has already posted that info. We only have a few half table spaces left, so if you are interested, please email me at artistalley@animeconji.org if you would like a space. Thanks!

hate to double post, but once I move after this next week I'll post a tutorial and pictures of the overhead display that I have used for my table. Its guaranteed to NOT break, since mine involved welding.

Hey Reaver, would you still happen to have that tutorial on your overhead display? I'm trying to figure out how I'd want to have a display set up but I have no clue where to even start x:

Well, what I did for my overhead display consists of some metal welding skills, so you will need to find a big strong man (or a chiseled and muscle woman O.o) who knows how to weld for you in order to make your display braces. I got a couple of super heavy duty metal pipes that are about 1 foot long and 2 inches in diameter and had them welded to a couple of heavy duty metal table clamps that I got from home depot. (pictured below). Then I just built a 2 inch pipe PVC frame to hold the sign itself. I even made fabric coveres to cover all the pvc pipes as well as the table braces for the pipes. Since you just attach the metal pipes to the clamps via welding, you can just slide the PVC pipe frame right into the braces and clamp it to your table. This is the most durable overhead sign that I have built, and it barely moves.
PS: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO USE THICK PVC PIPES LIKE I DID! If you are only displaying paper artwork on the overhang, then I suggest sticking with 1 inch pipe so that you do not have a lot ov overhead weight hanging off of your table. I only used heavier duty pvc pipe because my display sign is canvas, and I have weighted stuff on my table to give counterweight for the banner. Ill try to take pics before the con if I can. ^_^

Aw, if only I'd have known about this convention sooner.

It's great to hear the suggestions that other people are posting up though. I'm barely new to the selling-at-cons scene.

Well, if I don't make it this year, I'd like to go next year. I hate saying that~ Just wish I had heard it through the grapevine sooner! :)

Don't worry so much about hearing about it late, it's still new and there is still a lot of time left. =D

I think what she meant is that she was not able to register for artist alley this year. we have already sold out this year for our artist alley tables, so we are not taking any more artists at this time. Though if you are itnerested in being in the artist alley next year, make sure to email me at artistalley@animeconji.org and ask to be added to the mailing list. Thanks!
